A special thanks to Till Tantau!
Ok, I forget sometimes that most people (especially non mathematicians which counts for like everyone) have never heard of LaTeX or Beamer. My brother thought that the word Beamer referred to a BMW car. While this is true it is not exactly what I was going for. So let us break it down. LaTeX is a coding language that gives out text instead of a program. It is the fancy way that mathematicians can write papers. At times it may seem a bit old school; however, the end result typically looks very professional. Thanks to Dr Till Tantau, a way cool German Mathematician, mathematicians have a LaTeX version of power point called beamer. The up side to this is there is so much more that one can do in beamer then ever possible in power point! I have to say my students love the beamer lectures i make for them because they can actually see the mathematics unfolding infront of them. The files are just pdf files and run on any computer; however, the look is very advanced. Dr. Tantau also created a nice package in LaTeX called Tikzpicture that allows one to create some amazing graphics. The added bonus of all this is that everything is FREE, and who doesn’t like free stuff?
My Goal!!!!
Ok so my game plan, simple as it may be, is to create some really cool Beamer LaTeX movies using Tikzpictures. Here is an example and there are more coming every day. Thanks for reading and I hope this will help you in your studies of mathematics. Please Vote below on the effectiveness of beamer.
Sincerely,
DrB
